Like a radio work, this “Never-ending Journey” is designed as a travel through the sounds of a single instrument, the double bass.
This solo music adventure seems as though it has been pierced by a bewitching light whose shadows multiply infinitely. Played by the bow, the notes roll out from under the strings or jump, struck by fingers bounding from one string to the next. Like Ram Narayan, the renowned Indian Sarangi player, Scodanibbio conjures multiphonic sounds from his double bass: the instrument is a band in itself, each string seeming autonomous while remaining linked to the shared harmony. A one-of-a-kind musical performance!
