As it does every year, the Roaring 38s festival proposes a concert-reading which puts forward a sensitive, reasoned artistic approach of the baccalauréat curriculum for those lycées where the school leaving certificate with music as a special subject is prepared. <br>Xu Yi’s musical work has been created by the woman of letters that she is, especially affected by poetry’s expressive, energising qualities as well as by the formalities and inflexions of language. Everywhere in her music, Xu Yi is attempting to create mystery, instability, “the poetic”, she says, movements in a permanent state of imbalance. She is trying to attain music of ebbing and flowing energy, in constant mutation, moving between a certain lyricism and seductive sonorous poetry.
Animated by Jean Luc Idray, musicologist. In collaboration with the Academy of Grenoble
