IRAN
Djamchid Chemirani, Bijan Chemirani, Keyvan Chemirani (zarbs and percussions Persians)
The Chemirani trio is a zarb ensemble tuned to play together. The zarb is the main percussion instrument in Iran. The Chemiranis, father and sons, have been working in their family house every day. While tapping into Persian poetry (which inspired the traditional rhythms), they composed and developed modern forms, stressing polyrhythms and a wide variety of sounds. The perfect concision of language, the dizzying exchanges of dialogue and the infinite variety of touch offered by the performance is enhanced by the marvellous complicity of the musicians.

The trio is making a further appearance in the creation “Tahawol” (Wednesday 7th December).
