« Silences » was inspired by a collection of poems to be sung gathered in Afghanistan by the poet-philosopher Sayd Bahodine. Valérie Joly, deeply moved by the way oral expression and resistance had been translated into written work, decided to write a long poem to be sung as an answering echo, combining the epic and the contemporary. This score, which blends various vocalities, be they ethnic or contemporary, was composed for three female voices and one dancer
