AUSTRALIA
The Australian didgeridoo is both modern and as old as the hills : a cylinder made out of wood, which a simple human breath can bring to life, but which is also capable of incredibly diversified sounds, rhythms and textures. Phillip Peris, the australian composer-musician, whose elders introduced him to the didgeridoo, is now a rand master of the instrument which has become an emblem of aborigine culture. He has been travelling all over the world for 20 years now, to popularise the very special sound of this solo instrument.
