Le Temps de rêve is a show in ritual form given by the ensemble of ten aborigine musicians from Arnhem Land. For the ceremony patterns symbolising the clan’s heritage (ochre, earth white and coal, or wild orchid juice) are painted on the body. Among the allegorical elements, ancestor spirits are liable to loom up in the songs and dances : for example Barnumbirr (the morning star) and Tjambuwal (the Thunder man, striding through the monsoon clouds, whose song causes the Flood), in the midst of sonorities made by clapsticks, boomerangs knocked against one another and of course the didgeridoo.
